Weather in Rochester

March 30, 2008. Temperature: 28 ° F

April 3, 2008. Temperature: 54 ° F

April 18, 2008. Temperature: 85 ° F (notice the lack of leaves on the trees!)

Also we had some other "firsts" this week for Rachel:

- First playdate! An 11-year old girl from our neighborhood came over, and all 3 girls had fun riding the bikes and drawing with the sidewalk chalk. It was so neat to hear Rachel trying to use English words to communicate!

- First Delta Sonic Super Kiss Car Wash! Cost - $11.99. Rachel's reaction - PRICELESS!

Your weather looks somewhat like ours. We've gone from winter to a brief day that felt like spring and then yesterday it was 76 degrees. I'm not complaining.

Love those firsts and I can imagine the car wash experience. We'll have to take Leeza through one.

Have fun with those adorable girls in this great weather.

Ah, yes! Taking the kids through the carwash is so fun! Though nothing will ever be better than Sergei meeting my copy machine.

That is so nice that Rachel has a friend in the neighborhood and that the older girls include Victoria in their play too. You must be so happy to see the sister bond growing stronger and stronger.

Love the pictures.

I remember taking my older granddaughter through the car wash and she was NOT happy.

It is crazy how the weather can change so fast.

That is great that Rachel had a friend over and was using her English. :) Too funny about the car wash! I can just picture it.

PS that your dad was named Vitaly too rocks!

When we go back for number four Natalie is a chosen american name but I am sad to say how do you say in Russian with emphasis?

Please share the weather, and the FABULOUS boots! We are stuck with La Nina! No need for the "car shower" as T calls it, until the sun comes back. :(

We've had similar weather... As Natalia puts it some days... "PSYCH-O weather!" Two weeks ago we had had a stretch of sun, of warmth, it was truly spring (when I blogged about the girls laying on the grass, soaking it up...). And then a few days later, when we walked out the door in the morning dressed as if it were still that nice, we were met by GRAY skies, COOOLD wind and slushy snow. We both just gave up and went home again. Katya stayed home sick. (She had been feeling yucky).

It's so fun to just imagine Rachel in her first car wash!

Oh--and Katya *does* correct my Russian. Sometimes when we're at her school--at a function of somekind, and I'm talking with other kids or their parents, she's bark at me under her breath: "Luchshe ne nado!!!" (It's better you DON'T!) Hah... I remember when all she could say was "Spas-pivo" for "thank you," and by then Chris and I had written long term papers in Russian analyzing Pushkin's poetry or Blok's relationship with the Scyths... Take THAT, baby. She sure keeps us on our toes!

p.s. Love the boots... You can take the girl out of Ukraine, but you can't take Ukraine out of the girl!

It looks like spring has finally sprung for you guys. Spring is trying to hang on here; just hope we get a spring this year. Last year, it lasted about 3 weeks before the hot weather hit.
