OUR DOSSIER HAS BEEN SUBMITTED!!!

It's hard to believe, but our dossier has finally been submitted! It was in our facilitator's hands since May 14, and he estimated it would be submitted sometime in July. He was actually right - it was submitted during "American hours" on Monday, July 30! Now the Department of Adoptions has 20 working days to go over our dossier and get back to us with either approval letter and a travel date, or rejection letter. Sometimes paperwork gets rejected by several reasons, but I really hope we will be approved. Lately the 20 working days are more like 30 working days, so I'm thinking we'll find out in about 6 weeks what our travel date will be. Usually it's approximately 3 months from the day of submission, so looks like it will be end of October - beginning of November.

Congratulations! What a wonderful feeling it must be to have it finally in the SDA's hands. Hopefully we're right behind you.

Awesome! Amazing! Fabulous!
I think I will just cry with relief when ours finally makes it!!!

Yes, Nataliya, I am planning on homeschooling the three new children too! Am I nuts?! Our social worker was actually very encouraging of the idea because of the 'bonding' time that it would provide. I was shocked at that. Stereotypically, they preach 'socialization' and look down on homeschooling! Anyway, it will be a bit crazy, especially since they won't speak English at first. They also may not all be school age, either, though.

Congratulations!!!

(the blog you visited me at is more general with some references to the adoption but we have an adoption blog too, if you're interested. It is lovedalready.com )

Yeah!!! We're so excited to hear this! Maybe all of us can end up in Kiev at the same time. That would be great!

Congratulations!! I was so glad to read your wonderful news this morning. Hopefully our trips will overlap some, and we will be able to meet in-country.
Can't wait to read that you've received approval and an appointment date!

So Awesome. Sorry it took a couple of days to come back and notice, things were hectic, but let me say that it is a work of God that everything happens in His time. I would expect that you should hear at the end of August. It was basically 1 month to the day that our facilitator told us the "date" for our appointment. It sure would have been nice to be over there together. Might see you as we prepare to come home though, one never knows. We plan on getting out of Odessa the middle of October. I hope you get an early date :) God Bless!
